The tone is so heavy and gripping, a little dread and oppressiveness, and a lot of slow intrigue in a good, good way. ππ This game is perfectly harmonizing the score, the art, and the writing... I ended up chewing through the entire demo in one sitting without meaning to. Very much looking forward to the full release, GOOD LUCK GUYS!! πβ¨
I played the free demo, and am very eager for more. The writing is wonderful, setting up potential mysteries and character that I can't wait to explore. I like the art for the sprites, you can really get a feel for the different characters. The music as well had a particularly haunting drone that heightened the tension.
One thing I criticise is that the way the game is formatted means that the text is often overlaid over the artwork. This makes sense because the writing style is less dialogue-focussed than other visual novels, but it still means that the lovely art is covered up and it can be a lil muddy to read! If the creator's have ever played/seen the visual novel Lamento, perhaps that sort of layout may be better for future updates: the sprites have their own little boxes with a stylised background, and there is a space in the middle for the text.
Regarding the text overlay - we really did intend to avoid the dialogue box style of UI, and don't plan to change that, but it's good to know that not everyone prefers it. The text overlay can be hidden at any time with the H hotkey if you wish to examine Hom's art for longer π
I was waiting so much for this release!! I love how it's written tbh, and the art is so gorgeous!!! I'm so excited for the full version, I hope this gets the recognition that it deserves!! <3 good job!!!
We're glad you were excited for it - thank you for praising us!! πHopefully in time the story will continue to find the audience who will enjoy it π
I just played it will be a work of art⨠I'm super hooked , the art is beautiful as always ①the plot is super interesting and I really like how it is written!
It's always challenging to convey the flavour of the whole thing in an introductory sample - but we're glad it has caught your interest so far π Thank you!!
Always love when indie VNs go for that classic novel-esque style of UI over the dialogue boxes!
I do wonder how much psychology history you guys had to look up in order to sell McCarthy's character and the time period, it's really grounded and I was surprised at how fast time went by when I realized I finished it. Just now.
Fantastic job and especially impressive for a first-time developer team! Best of luck with the rest, I'll be waiting for it!
Thanks so much for your lovely comment! π§ΈWe thought a lot about the best UI for this tale, and the novel vibe seems to match best - we're glad you liked it too.
There was a LOT of research for this project, general history and early therapy textbooks, and probably more to come - but it's fun. We watch a lot of movies!
Thanks for your support, and we look forward to bringing you the rest of this questionable story π
